Autopilot Setup & Usage
Autopilot is a scheduled agent for live Meta campaigns. Each cycle compares delivery with your CPA or ROAS goals and safety limits. It can pause losers, scale winners, rebalance budgets and request or refresh creatives. Every decision records its reason and later outcome.
Before enabling
Section titled “Before enabling”You need:
- at least one connected Meta ad account with live campaigns;
- a target CPA or target ROAS;
- a daily spend limit and other action limits appropriate to the account;
- a positive team balance for analysis and creative work.
Connect accounts at /accounts. Owners and admins can enable Autopilot or change the team mode. Managers can switch it Off, but cannot switch it to Monitor or Auto.
| Mode | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Off | Scheduled analysis and actions are disabled. |
| Monitor | Autopilot analyses campaigns and proposes actions, but changes nothing without approval. |
| Auto | Eligible decisions are applied automatically within the configured limits. Actions classified as requiring approval still wait for a person. |
Starter supports Off and Monitor, not Auto. Actions are logged in all active modes.
Switching to Auto shows what Autopilot may do and asks for confirmation. Enabling through chat is also confirmation-gated: try “Configure Autopilot in Monitor mode for my active account” and review the proposed settings before agreeing.
Configure settings
Section titled “Configure settings”Autopilot has URL-backed tabs:
- Overview —
/autopilot; - Actions —
/autopilot/actions; - Accounts & coverage —
/autopilot/accounts; - Effect —
/autopilot/effect; - Settings —
/autopilot/settings.
In Settings, team defaults apply to every connected account unless an account overrides a value. Account, campaign and ad-set overrides can tighten goals, change mode or exclude an entity.
Important controls include target CPA and ROAS, thresholds for pausing and scaling, minimum spend and impressions before a decision, a daily spend limit and a per-cycle change limit, Check interval (min), and Working hours. Working hours are evaluated in each ad account’s timezone. The default interval is 30 minutes; the team can set 15–1440 minutes in steps of 15. The Cautious, Balanced and Aggressive presets check every 2 hours, 1 hour and 30 minutes, respectively.
Extended actions such as budget rebalancing, placement changes, audience expansion, Lookalikes and duplicating winners are off until explicitly allowed. Auto-refresh creatives (A/B) can generate a variant on fatigue, publish it to the same ad set and test it against the original. Competitor intelligence for Autopilot is off by default; its scan period defaults to 7 days and its monthly credit cap to $20. Creative fatigue, Request new creatives and notification settings have separate controls.
Enable safely
Section titled “Enable safely”- Open
/autopilot/settingsand choose team defaults or a specific account. - Set realistic goals and limits, then save.
- Start in Monitor to inspect proposed decisions.
- Switch to Auto only when the limits and enabled action permissions are correct; confirm the switch.
The scheduler reviews accounts on the configured interval. Run now starts an immediate cycle. If a cycle is already running, AdWitch does not start another one.
Review decisions
Section titled “Review decisions”The Actions tab contains pending suggestions and action history. It shows what Autopilot decided, why, whether it was applied or skipped, and the tracked outcome. Pending Monitor-mode suggestions can be approved or dismissed.
The team can stop Autopilot at any time. Stopping aborts the running cycle, switches the mode to Off, leaves accounts in their current state and keeps pending suggestions in Actions.
On a plan without an ad-management commission, Autopilot pauses if the working balance runs out and links to /settings/billing for a top-up.
Autopilot and the commission
Section titled “Autopilot and the commission”On plans with an ad-management commission above zero, scheduled Autopilot LLM cycles are included in that commission. Creative, image and video generation remains paid from credits.
A negative balance created by the daily commission starts the applicable grace period; Autopilot keeps running during that period. It stops only when the debt becomes overdue after the grace period, when the connected Meta campaigns are also paused for non-payment. After a top-up brings the balance above zero, eligible campaigns and Autopilot resume automatically.
Configure through chat
Section titled “Configure through chat”The agent can read, update, enable or disable team settings and account, campaign or ad-set overrides, switch the team mode (Off, Monitor, Auto) and toggle the extended action permissions — the result is the same as the page header, and every step that hands Autopilot more control asks for confirmation first. For example:
“Put Autopilot into Monitor mode.” / “Switch Autopilot to Auto.” / “Turn Autopilot off.”
“Exclude campaign 123 from Autopilot but leave the rest of the account in Monitor mode.”
“Show my current Autopilot limits and explain which actions may run automatically.”
